The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research seeks candidates for a Faculty Fellow position beginning in June or July 2017. The goal of this position is to bring innovation and faculty expertise to improve the OVCR’s support of new research teams, leading to significant external funding.

Specifically, the Faculty Fellow will:

  • Innovate to improve and enhance OVCR efforts in spearheading new research initiatives; identifying new sources of external funding and connecting researchers to funding opportunities; and collaborating with campus leaders in organizing participation and assistance for funding proposals.
  • Oversee and improve the process to support the VCR’s selection of proposals for limited submissions funding opportunities.
  • Provide advice to units and individual researchers who are considering research initiatives that will lead to significant external funding.
  • Help connect research initiatives with various university and external resources.

This Fellow appointment will be for two years at 30% time, with commensurate support for summer activities.  Fellows must be tenured faculty members with a minimum of five years’ research experience.

Deans and Department Heads/Chairs may nominate faculty members by emailing ovcr-hr@illinois.edu. Your assistance in identifying distinguished faculty with interest in leadership roles is critical to the success of this program.

Faculty members may apply by sending a curriculum vitae and a short statement of interest and professional goals ovcr-hr@illinois.edu. OVCR will seek the endorsement of the candidate’s dean and unit head/chair as part of the application process.

Nominations are requested by April 14.
